Give me a choice to only own one console for the rest of my days, and the Dreamcast would be my pick. Why? Because it's quite honestly the one console I have got the most out of, enjoyed the most games on, and have the best gaming memories from. The Amiga would most likely come in 2nd place, and because I've already done a tribute art for that system, here's a long overdue nod to the Dreamcast.
My first experience of the Dreamcast was when a pod featuring a Sonic Adventure demo popped up in me local cinema, about 3 or 4 months prior to it's launch. Me and one of my school mates were hooked, and went up there every day pumping the guts out of the six levels on the promo disc. One time we had to be kicked out as a queue was building up! Anyway, I finally got my mitts on one about 2 weeks after it's lanuch with, naturally, Sonic Adventure and Virtua Fighter 3. I've since probably owned (and in some cases, sold, then regretted and bought again) almost 75 titles for it. I swear 2000 was just about the best year for gaming I had ever experienced, with about 25 titles in the last six months I wanted bad.
Come 2001, when the console was sadly pulled the plug on by Sega, who decided to move on to multi-format production, I found my self picking up pirate copies of games you can't get over here from Boot sales, including Emulators. As soon as I owned a PC, I looked into how these could be burned fron the 'net (Hey, the system's dead anyway, so what difference does it make now?), and thanks to this I've not only played a whole lot more of the rarer titles, but I've played millions of other console's games on it, too.
What's kind of bizarre is there's still so many games I want to play for it. So many I want to own. I still need the light gun, the fishing rod and Samba De Amigo with it's Maracas. I've found myself wanting to collect DC games, and currently have about 50-odd proper ones. It's mad, for a console that was out for such a short time, there's just so much I like on it.
The Dreamcast was also my first experience of having my own internet connection, and where I first set up the website that'd later become Manga-Gaga, disconnecting on the Angelfire editing page and copying all the html down from notebooks I scribbled, then going onto the ChuChu Rocket Forums and plugging it like a total noob. Ahh, memories~
Anyway, enough rambling about the good ol' days when I actually got excited about game releases, I've been working on this art on and off for just over a week, finally finishing it tonight. I ended up deciding on the orange photoshop background, as it looked a bit more lively than it did in blue (of which is the Dreamcast's British logo colour).
Characters featured from the games: ChuChu Rocket SeaMan Stupid Invaders Mr. Driller Ecco Rayman 2 Shenmue Puyo Puyo Series (There's about 3 installments on he DC) Gunbird 2 Skies of Arcadia Confidental Mission ('WHO ARE YOU?' 'AGENT GIBSON.' Toy Commander Power Stone Space Channel 5 (Downloading Music of as I'm typing this) Cool Cool Toon Virtua Tennis Bangai-O SegaGaga Sonic Adventure House of the Dead 2 Sega Tetris (Best Tetris title in yonks. Why didn't it get released outside Japan?) Jet Set Radio Samba De Amigo Crazy Taxi Soul Calibur Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike
There's probably plenty of other characters from other games I could of squeezed in, but I either forgot them or couldn't draw them (How'd you go about drawing something from Rez, for example?).
xD Wow.. dreamcast must be great for you. And this picture has a lot of people in it! X3 Love it.
I never experience Dreamcast much. Didn't know about it for a pretty long time, and my brothers didn't get it.. so.. XD
I DID try it out once... a lonnng time ago, but I only remember it having lots of buttons, and it being complicated for me. XD; I probably would have gotten used to it, if I had owned it myself. The only thing I really know about Dreamcast, is that it had Soul Calibur on it. <3 That's like.. the best ever game. XD; I've always enjoyed playing SC at the arcades. Lizardman is the best. 8D;
Ah memories.. if I stuck with one console, it'd definatley be one of the Nintendo consoles.. XD; I'm not sure which one I'd stick with, though. But I LOVED the Nes and the Snes, and the games.
.. That Samurai looks like Mitsurugi. xD Am I right? 8D *dies*
Anyways, great pictures. :3 I wouldn't have such patience to do so many people in one picture.
Yep, that's Mitsurugi, me fave character in the game. Just so you know: Namco improved the graphics of Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast and added god knows how many extras. You know what to do
Yay! Baeat Gus Mr Driller Seaman Neko Puyo Rayman Sonic & No Ayane! I hate you!

XD Siegfried is my favourite character... Well.. wait.. I already said Lizardman, but hey, I like him too.
I was sad that he wasn't there in SC II, only as a costume with Nightmare. I couldn't do the awesome hold position thing with him, and poke people with the sword from afar. Just.. *poke. poke. poke*
Hmmm.. improved graphics... extras... awesommeee. I'll look into that.. maybe.
